The WolfPack men's basketball team's poor shooting from the field translated into a 64-85 loss to the Hawks from Harper College. Madison College only shot 33% from the field, while the Hawks shot a blistering 55% from the field, including 50% beyond the arc in the lopsided affair.
In front of a strong crowd of alumni and other fans in attendance for the Jam the Gym event, the WolfPack fell behind at the break 25-39 before the Hawks finished off the home team by 21 points. Harper College not only held the advantage in shooting from the field, they also went to the line 36 times and converted 27 of those opportunities into points compared to the home teams' 15-for-19 free throw shooting. Another strong sign of the Hawk's shooting dominance was three point shooting. Harper shot 8-of-16 beyond the arc and Madison College shot only 3-of-20.
Despite the loss, three WolfPack players finished in double digit points, led by second player and Eau Claire, WI native Corey Yahnke. He finished with 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field and hauled down 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. First year players Garrett Borgrud of Deerfield, WI and Mike Wynn of Muncie, IN, were right behind Yahnke with 12 points apiece. First year player Jordan Van Cleave of Reedsburg led the WolfPack in assists with 4.
The WolfPack fell to 5-6 in N4C conference play and 12-13 overall with three games left. Next up for Madison College is tomorrow's game against Wilbur Wiright College in Chicago, IL.
