They fell just one win shy of making it back to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament, but you can't fault the Madison College volleyball team's effort Saturday. The WolfPack picked up an enormous upset of third ranked Joliet Junior College in the Region IV Semifinals, before falling to a tough Rock Valley team in the Championship.

Despite dropping both of their regular season matches to Joliet, the 'Pack would start howling early in the Region IV Semis. Before they knew it the team found themselves up on the third ranked Wolves two games to none. With their backs against the wall Joliet would respond, the Wolves won the game 25-22. Determined to knock off the N4C champ, Madison would finish their opponent off in the fourth game, winning 25-23. Hannah Schwartzer led the way offensively with 15 kills, while Kirsten Halma had 50 assists. Defensively, Kate Jonas and Trichelle Hoppman each picked up three blocks, and Calli Dahl delivered 28 digs. The win would vault the WolfPack into the Region IV Championship against Rock Valley College.

Unfortunately, after knocking off the tournament favorite, the WolfPack had little left to offer the Golden Eagles. Playing for the right to represent the region in the NJCAA Division III National Tournament the 'Pack came out flat against Rock Valley. The team would drop the first game 21-25, and the second 16-25. The hole proved too deep for Madison to climb out of, with the Golden Eagles finishing things off in the third with a 26-24 victory. Kate Jonas tallied ten kills in the loss, and Kirsten Halma had 22 assists. However, the team made 16 offensive errors, and finished with an attack percentage of just .138. Four players, Calli Dahl, Kirsten Halma, Kate Jonas, and Ashley Ponyicsanyi finished tied with 11 digs. The loss ended the team's season, as the 'Pack finished with an overall record of 22-13.

Congrats to the Madison College volleyball team on a wonderful season. Calli Dahl and Hannah Schwartzer were named All-Region, and named to the All-Tournament team. Trichelle Hoppman joined the pair on the latter.
