WolfPack Take Down Hawks Again

Kelsey Zimmerman led the WolfPack with nine digs.
Madison College, the No. 5 ranked team in the country, came into their contest with Harper College having only lost five of 19 sets, one of which came at the hands of the Hawks a little over a week ago at the College of DuPage Classic. On Sept. 7 in Palatine, Ill. the two teams played three sets again, but the WolfPack prevailed in all three sets this time around against the Hawks winning 25-20, 25-21, 25-18.

The first time these two teams met this season on Aug. 28 in Glen Ellyn, Ill., the Hawks took the first set only to watch the WolfPack take the next two sets, the match and spot in the championship match at the tournament. Now, with the three-set sweep of the Hawks in Palatine, the WolfPack have won five-straight sets over the Hawks and six-straight matches dating back to last season. In N4C play, the WolfPack are yet to lose a match - let alone a set - as they are 3-0 in the conference and have won all nine sets they've played in the 2010 season.

Hilary Frey got up close and personal with the net as she landed 10 kills for the WolfPack. Fellow first-year setter Kirsten Halma also contributed with 18 assists. Defensively, team captain April Testman led the team in blocks again with three, while the second of three team captains, Kelsey Zimmerman, gave the WolfPack a nine-dig effort.

The WolfPack are back in action on Sept. 9 at home against Western Technical College as they take a break from conference play until Sept. 14 when they travel to Rockford, Ill. to face the No. 3 ranked Golden Eagles of Rock Valley College, who are 13-1 this season.
