Jessica Pelzel started as the MATC Head Women’s Basketball Coach during the 2006-07 season and is in her fourth year at the helm. Her 2008-09 squad finished with a 26-7 record overall, and 6-0 finish in the WTCC conference for the third straight season under her watch. Besides placing first in the conference, her team went 12-1 in the WJCAA to claim their second consecutive state title. After dominating in the regular season, Pelzel went on to lead her team to a NJCAA Region XIII-B title and a runner-up finish in the NJCAA Division III tournament...all in her third season.
Pelzel served as an assistant coach at the College of St. Benedict (St. Joseph, MN) for two years prior to coming to MATC. This past season, she was a full-time instructor in the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sport Science (HPERSS) at St. Cloud State University (SCSU) - where she also earned her Master’s of Science degree. Before that, Pelzel held a graduate assistant position with the SCSU Women’s Basketball team for one year, and was a two-year graduate teaching assistant in the HPERSS department.
Pelzel was a four-year member of the women’s basketball team at Southwest Minnesota State University (Marshall, MN), where she was a three-time team captain and was selected defensive player-of-the-year her senior season. She is also a current member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and has coached numerous Minnesota AAU teams over the past 10 years.
In addition to her coaching duties, Pelzel is also a full-time physical education instructor at MATC.
