Denise Stenklyft is in her second season as the Madison Area Technical College head women’s basketball coach. Last year’s team went 9-7 after Stenklyft took over as head coach at the half-way point of the season. The team finished the season with a 12-16 record and a second place WTCC conference finish. Stenklyft has also served as assistant women’s volleyball coach for the last two years.
Coach Stenklyft has deep ties to MATC. In fact, Stenklyft is the most decorated MATC women’s basketball player ever. In 1996, Denise (Brattlie) Stenklyft became the first basketball player (men’s or women’s) in MATC history to earn all-american honors. In addition to her all-american honors, she received all-conference player of the year honors in her second season and was a WJCAA All-State, WJCAA All-Tournament, and NJCAA All-Region XIII selection.
Stenklyft was born on April 29, 1976 in Cambridge,WI. She currently lives in Cambridge with her husband, Ben. In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Stenklyft works as Fitness Center Assistant and Volleyball Coordinator for the MATC Fitness Center.
