Matt Schwartz

Matt Schwartz returns to the Madison College men's soccer program as an assistant coach in 2020-21, a role he also filled for three seasons under Cory Sims from 2013-2015. In April 2016, he was hired as the WolfPack head women's soccer coach and is entering his fifth year in that capacity.

In his four years at the helm of the women's program, Schwartz has guided Madison College to a 47-17-5 (.717) record. In 2017, he led the WolfPack to the program's first North Central Community College Conference title, first NJCAA Region IV championship, first NJCAA District D title, and its first appearance at the NJCAA Division III Women's Soccer National Championships. As a result, he was named the Region IV Coach of the Year. The WolfPack successfully defended their N4C title in 2018 and 2019, and won another NJCAA Region IV crown in 2019. Schwartz has coached two All-Americans, two N4C Most Valuable Players, two Region IV Players of the Year, two Region IV Tournament MVPs, 22 all-conference, and 23 all-region players. 

A Madison, Wisconsin, native, Schwartz is a 2005 graduate of Monona Grove High School, playing with the Middleton Soccer Club during his high school years. After graduation, Schwartz turned his attention to coaching and has been active in the soccer community since 2008. For the past two years, he has served as head coach of the Verona Soccer Club's U14 and U15 Girls, and U16 and U18 Boys teams. Previously, Schwartz has fulfilled coaching roles with Madison FC (U12 Boys Head Coach and U18 Girls Assistant) and Monona Grove HS (Varsity Boys Assistant, Varsity Girls Goalkeeper Coach, JV Boys Head Coach.
 
Schwartz graduated from UW-Whitewater with a degree in history in 2012, and believes in stressing “teamwork and the ability to overcome adversity on and off the field.” He also notes that “discipline and simplicity are key to a successful program.”
 
Schwartz, who lives in Monona, is a personal trainer and owns his own business. In his free time, Schwartz enjoys working out, reading, cooking, playing video games, and playing soccer.
