Jeff Richardson started the MATC soccer program in 1998 and coached from 1998-2000, and assumed head coaching duties again in 2003 after being away from the program for two seasons. In 11 seasons he has put together a remarkable 125-65-11 record.
In his first four seasons, Richardson led the WolfPack soccer team to a combined record of 56-11-2 over, winning conference and state titles in each consecutive season. He also claimed three NJCAA Region XIII and four WJCAA Coach-of-the-Year awards for his team accomplishments during this time.
During the 2007 season, coach Richardson led the WolfPack to a 15-1-1 record capturing conference, state and region titles while bringing the WolfPack within one game of the national tournament for the fourth time in five years. He earned both NJCAA Region Coach-of-the-Year and WJCAA Coach-of-the-Year honors for the sixth time. The team also finished the season ranked eighth in the final NJCAA Division III soccer poll.
Overall, Richardson has received seven WJCAA Coach-of-the-Year and seven NJCAA XIII Coach-of-the-Year honors while leading his teams to eight WTCC conference titles, seven WJCAA championships, and seven NJCAA Region XIII crowns. He has also produced four All-Americans and five of his teams have finished in the top 15 in the final NJCAA national rankings, with the highest team finishing eighth.
Richardson has coached various teams at several levels for the past 24 years including Verona High School, Madison East High School, Middleton Soccer Club, Waunakee Soccer Club, Madison 56ers Soccer Club, and Wisconsin Olympic Development team.
Richardson was born and raised in Fitchburg, WI. He currently resides there. In addition to his coaching duties at MATC, Richardson is a Job Developer for Adults with Disabilities.
