Schafel is in his third season as a student assistant coach with the MATC Men’s basketball team. Schafel played basketball at MATC during the 2005-06 season after transferring from the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Coach Schafel played in 30 games for the WolfPack during the 2005-06 season leading the team in three-point shooting percentage. He was second on the team in free-throw percentage and blocked shots while averaging almost eight points per game. In high school, Schafel attended Madison East where he was a two-year basketball letterwinner under head coach, Rich Cleveland.
