Jeronne Maymon is entering his first season as an assistant coach with Madison College men's basketball.
The 2009 Wisconsin Mr. Basketball, Maymon has enjoyed a highly successful basketball playing career at all levels. Maymon averaged 6.6 points and 3.3 rebounds as a freshman at Marquette University before transferring after the first semester to the University of Tennessee, where he earned second team All-SEC honors - for a second time - in 2013-14 after putting up 14 points and nine rebounds a contest. For his efforts, he was also named the SEC's Most Improved Player by Blue Ribbon and the SEC's Most Underrated Player by ESPN. While playing with the Volunteers, Maymon made two NCAA Tournament appearances, reaching the regional semifinals in 2014.
Maymon played professionally in Israel in 2014-15 before announcing his retirement from basketball due to injuries to his knees.
Maymon's coaching credits include three years at the prep level, including one season (2015-16) as the freshman head coach at his alma mater, Madison Memorial HS.
During his prep days, Maymon was part of impressive run of WIAA State Tournament appearances for the Spartans, who finally broke through for a Division I championship in his senior year (2009). Maymon was a four-time all-state and all-conference honoree, and a two-time Player of the Year in the Big 8 Conference.
Maymon, who graduated from Tennessee with a degree in Psychology, has spent two years working as a Behavioral Counselor in the Madison area. He currently resides in Fitchburg. When not playing basketball, he enjoys working with area youth, playing billiards, traveling, and eating new foods.
