Trevor Burmeister is entering his third season as an assistant coach for the Madison College baseball team and head coach Mike Davenport. Burmeister was hired prior to the 2017 season. In 2019 he was named the NJCAA Division II Assistant Coach of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Baseball America.

Burmeister returns to the WolfPack after the Verona, Wisconsin, native played in 83 games and made 51 starts as an outfielder and second basemen in 2010 and 2011. He helped lead the WolfPack to the pinnacle in 2010 when they finished 44-15 and advanced to NJCAA DII World Series in Enid, Oklahoma, starting a six-year string of Madison College baseball World Series appearances. After losing the first two games in the World Series in 2010, Burmeister helped the 2011 baseball team get back to Enid with another stellar team record of 45-16, which culminated in a third place finish. The team achievement is still tied for the best any WolfPack baseball team has accomplished since the baseball team became a NJCAA DII program.

At Madison College, Burmeister had his best season in 2011 when he finished with a .330 batting average on 34 hits in 103 at-bats. He also scored 25 runs, recorded seven extra base hits, and stole eight bases on his way to being named first team all-conference (N4C). No slouch in the classroom, he was also named academic all-conference (N4C) both years he attended Madison College.

With two seasons under his belt for the ‘Pack, Burmeister continued his playing career with the UW-La Crosse Eagles in 2012 and 2013. A two-year letter winner, he helped UW-L advance to the NCAA DIII Regionals his junior season. Burmeister went on to graduate in 2014 with a degree in Communications.

After playing four seasons of baseball, Burmeister started his coaching career at UW-La Crosse in 2014 as Outfield and Assistant Hitting Coach. In his second year at the school as a coach, the Eagles won their NCAA Midwest Regional and advanced to the NCAA DIII World Series in Appleton in 2015. The team went on to take second place in the NCAA World Series and finish with a 36-16 record.

The following season, Burmeister started pursuing his Master’s Degree at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He spent one season as the Head Hitting and Outfield Coach, and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education with a Coaching Emphasis. In his first season as a coach at Minnesota-Duluth, the team won a school record 39 games, made the NCAA Regionals. They also possessed the third best batting average and second best home run totals in NCAA DII.

During his prep days, Burmeister competed in football and baseball at Verona High School, where he graduated from in 2009. On the diamond, he earned four varsity letters and was named All-Big 8 Conference. On the gridiron, he was a three-year letter winner, an all-conference selection, and a member of a WIAA State Runner-up as a senior.

Burmeister resides in Madison, Wisconsin, and enjoys time with family, friends, his dogs, and fishing.
