Tom Fischer is in his first season as Madison Area Technical College assistant/pitching baseball coach.  The former University of Wisconsin starting pitcher will continue to help the young players/pitchers on this year’s team.  “His enthusiasm for the game, his knowledge, and his great success as a player will benefit each and every one of our players,” said Coach Kalinowski.

Fisher was a eight-time letterwinner in baseball, basketball, and soccer at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School in Jackson, WI.  After high school, Fischer attended the University of Wisconsin where he was named NCAA player of the week and received second team All-Big Ten honors during his junior season.  In 1988, in a seven inning game against the University of Iowa, Fischer struck out 19 batters.  

In 1988, he was drafted in the first round (12th overall pick) by the Boston Red Sox and played in their organization for six years?(1988-93).  Fischer continued playing baseball for the Minnesota Twins organization in 1995 and the Madison Black Wolf in 1996.

Fischer was born on March 23, 1967 in West Bend, WI.  In addition to coaching, he is self-employed as a Human Resources Manager at Cedar Crossing.  He currently lives with his wife, Robin, in Cottage Grove, WI.
