Steve Hauser, MATC’s current Director of Athletics and former NCAA college baseball coach, will be in his first season as the MATC head baseball coach this year. Prior to MATC, Hauser served as head baseball coach at Macalester College for six years, building a traditional cellar-dwellar into a very competitive and well respected college baseball program.  His coaching peers selected him as MIAC Coach-of-the-Year in 1994. Prior to that, he served as pitching coach for a highly successful Mankato State University baseball team for three seasons. In the summer of 1993, Hauser was one of thirty-two coaches selected by Major League Baseball International to coach and conduct baseball clinics throughout France.

In college, Coach Hauser attended Iowa State University where he was a two-year Big Eight Conference starting pitcher for the Cyclones and was awarded pitcher-of-the-year honors in his freshman season. He then transferred to Simpson College for his junior and senior seasons where he excelled in both football and baseball, earning all-conference honors in both sports.

Hauser grew up in Charles City, Iowa and received a sports administration and business degree from Simpson College in 1989 and his M.S. degree in Athletic Administration from Mankato State University in 1993. He currently lives in Sun Prairie with his wife, Lauri, and two young children, Benjamin and Joseph.
