Matthew LaMothe

Matthew LaMothe is entering his second season as an assistant coach for the Madison College baseball team after being hired in the fall of 2017. LaMothe is currently an instructor at GRB Academy and the pitching coach for the Madison Mallards of the Northwoods League.
 
The native of Rochester, Michigan, started his baseball career as a four-year letter winner at Troy Athens High School in Troy, Michigan, before moving on to in-state Oakland University. LaMothe was named team Pitcher of the Year, as well as being named all-conference (Summit) for the NCAA Division I program. He played two seasons at Oakland before transferring to NCAA Division II Georgia College and State University. While at Georgia College and State University, LaMothe was named all-conference (Peach Belt), was recognized as the Peach Belt Tournament MVP, and led his Bobcats to the 2013 Peach Belt Conference Championship. He also played two summers with the Madison Mallards (2010 & 2012) in college before becoming the pitching coach for the Mallards.
 
Other than his collegiate success, LaMothe played one season with the Schaumburg Bombers of the independent Frontier League in 2015. Since deciding to focus on coaching, LaMothe has coached one season as an assistant for the NCAA Division III Milikin University (IL) Big Blue, and two seasons for the NAIA Division I Central Methodist University (MO) Eagles.
 
LaMothe graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication from Georgia College and State University in 2013, and currently lives in Sun Prairie, WI.
