Leo Kalinowski is in his 10th year as head coach of the Madison Area Technical College WolfPack Baseball Program.  Kalinowksi has compiled a 313-110 record at MATC.  His teams are consistantly one of the top-ranked teams in the nation.

Coach Kalinowski’s teams have captured nine consecutive Wisconsin Technical College Conference titles.  His teams have won eight of the last nine Wisconsin Junior College Athletic Association state titles and six National Junior College Athletic Association Region XIII titles.  In  1995, 1996, and 1997 Kalinowski’s teams were the Division III National Champions.

“We have had great success here at MATC,” said Kalinowski.  “I have had a number of quality players who have contributed to the success of this program throughout the years.”

In addition to winning championships, Kalinowski has a reputation for sending players to NCAA Division I, II, and III schools.  Kalinowski has coached several NJCAA All-Americans and Major League draftees.

Coach Kalinowski’s resume demonstrates his strong baseball background both as a coach and a player.  From 1977-1979, Kalinowski was a Division I starter for the University of Massachusetts, leading them to a NCAA Tournament berth in 1978-1979.  Following graduation, Kalinowski continued his baseball career playing in a semi-pro league in New Brunswick, Canada.  In 1980 he traveled to Amsterdam, Holland to play for three years.  While in Holland he helped organize a youth baseball league.

Kalinowski has also been involved in the well-known Home Talent League in the Madison area.  He has led his team to numerous titles in that league.

Outside of baseball, Leo is kept busy with his three children, Kennedy, Connor, and Joshua.  Kalinowski, along with his wife, Sara, and children live in Stoughton, Wisconsin.  Kalinowski is the Vice-President of McKeogh Land Company.

Kalinowski is excited about the future of the WolfPack Baseball Program.  After a successful run in NJCAA Division III, the WolfPack Baseball Program made the change to NJCAA Division II last season.  “Divison II gives us a fresh challenge going into the new millenium, while giving us the opportunity to reward student-athletes with scholarship monies,” said Kalinowksi.  Robin Roberts Baseball Field is also undergoing some changes.  Construction began this spring on additional upgrades and  remodeling of this first-class facility.  “Our newly upgraded facility is among the best in the Midwest,” added Kalinowski.

“I’m excited for a new a season of WolfPack Baseball and look forward to adding to our tradition of success,” said Kalinowski.
