HUNTLEY, ILL. - Madison College officially fielded its first-ever women's golf team Wednesday when the WolfPack sent four golfers to compete in the Judson University Invite at Pinecrest Golf Club. The program's first event resulted in a 12th-place finish out of 13 teams, 11 of which were four-year institutions. Freshman Delaina Nicewander led the Pack with a tie for 28th place in the 75-person field.

Madison College turned in a team score of 400, two shots back of 11th place Saint Xavier University and 126 shots in front of Alverno College. The host Eagles were first with a 335, followed by second place Rock Valley College at 340. The individual field also included players from three other junior colleges.

Nicewander, a native of Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, registered one birdie and five pars en route to an 89 (+17) in her collegiate debut. She was part of a four-way tie for 28th overall. Amelia Dunseth, the reigning Region 4 and NJCAA Division III National Champion, was the medalist with a 75. 

Emma Cegielski tied for 56th with a 101 (+29) after one birdie and three par by the Winneconne, Wisconsin, native. Katey Buchanan shot back-to-back nine-hole scores of 51 to place 58th overall with a 102 (+30), while Kate Sendelbach rounded out the WolfPack scores with a 108 (+36) to tie for 64th. Buchanan and Sendelbach each recorded one par.

Madison College will next compete in the two-day, 36-hole Edgewood University Fall Invite. The event will take place at Odana Hills Golf Course in Madison, Wisconsin, with tee times starting at noon on September 20 and 9:00 a.m. on September 21.
