Combined no-hitter opens resounding Sophomore Day sweep for #6 WolfPack

Madison College finishes regular season with five straight wins and 39-10 record

MADISON, WISC. - Sunday was a special day at Robin Roberts Field as the Madison College baseball team closed out the 2026 regular season with a lopsided doubleheader sweep of Oakton College, which included the program's ninth no-hitter since 2001. Sophomores Axel Donaldson and Noah Musolf combined to hold the Owls, ranked #13 in the NJCAA Division III Poll, without a hit over five innings in an 11-1 victory before the #6 WolfPack rolled to a 10-2 victory in the finale. Between games, Madison College Athletics celebrated Sophomore Day and recognized the 16-member Sophomore Class of 2026, which included Chase Baker, Beau Bloxdorf, Camden Broske, Braycen Burg, Landon Dessart, Axel Donaldson, Quinn Falish, Broden Jackson, Carter Lund, Noah Marschke, Sam Moses, Noah Musolf, Nate Novinska, Mason Sherman, Adison Tevz, and JJ Wolbert.

Game #1: #6 Madison College 11, #13 Oakton College 1 (5 innings)

Madison College's last no-hitter was in 2018 when Jake Kopp and Kevin Hussey combined for a five-inning no-no against Harper College, and you can now add Axel Donaldson and Noah Musolf to the list. Donaldson, a native of De Pere, Wisconsin, worked 3.1 innings, allowing one unearned run and five walks. He also struck out two batters before Musolf (5-1) took over for the final 1.2 innings and the win. The Franklin, Wisconsin, native, fanned four batters and walked one to preserve the no-hitter. Just about all no-hitters come with at least one amazing defensive play, and the WolfPack got theirs from Jonah Roloff in right field as the freshman leaped to rob Oakton of a home run in right field in the third inning.

The offense, meanwhile, had their backs with plenty of run support. A wild pitch allowed Braylen White to score after he led the game off with a walk, advanced on a sacrifice bunt, and move up on two wild pitches. Beau Bloxdorf later singled in Quinn Falish for an early 2-0 lead. Bloxdorf added another RBI in the third with a sacrifice fly to left to score JJ Wolbert.

After the Owls tallied their lone run in the fourth on two walks and an error, Madison College exploded for eight runs in the home half. The inning included five hits, five walks, and one error. White, Bloxdorf, and Chase Maika each drove in a run, while Wolbert and Eason Hurd had two RBI each en route to the run-ruled victory.

Wolbert finished 2 for 2 with two runs and a run batted in, while White also scored twice and drove in a run on a hit and a walk. Falish was the third player to record multiple runs scored.

Bloxdorf and Hurd matched each other with one hit, two runs batted in, and a run scored. Roloff and Novinska both scored once and had a hit.

Game #2: #6 Madison College 10, #13 Oakton College 2

The day's final game also opened with a two-run bottom of the first inning. Freshman Casey Wambach doubled in JJ Wolbert, and Jonah Roloff brought Wambach home with a single to right. The lead doubled to 4-0 in the third when Roloff drove his second home run of the season over the wall in right for a two-run blast.

Oakton College (21-26) reclaimed the two runs in the fourth, using three hits, two walks, and wild pitch against sophomore Carter Lund, who was able to limit the damage with an inning-ending double play.

A six-run fifth inning put the game out of reach. Four walks, three hits, and an error helped push the differential to 10-2. After Casey Wambach scored on an error, freshman Paul Nuetzel drove in two runs with a double to center. Fellow first year Matt Gruber copied with his own two-run, two-bagger to plate Nuetzel and Chase Maika. The game's final run came as leftfielder Easton Engel single to left to bring home Gruber.

Roloff was tops offensively with two hits, one walk, three runs batted in, and two runs scored. Wambach finished with a pair of hits, one walk, two runs, and one RBI. Nuetzel and Gruber each had two runs driven in, a run scored, and one hit.

Adison Tevz started the game but left after giving up a hit, one walk, and striking out two in the first inning. Lund (4-1) struck out four batters over three innings, and was tagged for two runs on two hits and two walks. Landon Dessart tossed the final three innings to secure his second save of the season. He fanned three, gave up two hits, and walked one.

Madison College leads the all-time series with Oakton College by a 23-13 margin and have won eight straight over the Owls.
