MADISON, WISC. - Following a near two-hour delay for possible storms Saturday, Madison College made a big statement with a doubleheader sweep of Kankakee Community College in a key Region 4 baseball showdown at

Game #1: #8 Madison College 4, #19 Kankakee Community College 1
Madison College made noise early with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning. Following a two-out walk to
Ian Salvesen, sophomore catcher
Nate Novinska went opposite field for his third home run of the year.
It remained 2-0 until the fourth, when Kankakee Community College took advantage of a single and a double against starter
Broden Jackson to cut their deficit in half.
In the fifth inning, the WolfPack had two on and two out for sophomore
Sam Moses, and the rightfielder drove a ball to deep right for a two-run double as
JJ Wolbert and
Eason Hurd each came in to score to make it 4-1.
WolfPack pitching took care of the rest. Jackson (5-0) remained perfect on the season thanks to six innings and three strikeouts. The righthander from Janesville, Wisconsin, surrendered just one run on five hits before turning the game over to second year reliever
Chase Baker, who struck out one of the three batters he face in a clean seventh inning to secure the first collegiate save for the lefty from Mukwonago, Wisconsin.
Moses led Madison College with a 2 for 3 day at the plate, resulting in two runs batted in. Novinska matched him with two RBI and a run scored as he was 1 for 1 with a walk.
JJ Wolbert picked up a hit and a run scored, while
Casey Wambach and
Quinn Falish each had a hit.

Quinn Falish. The lead jumped from one run to four runs in the third with a two-out rally.
JJ Wolbert and
Eason Hurd reached on base knocks to start the inning, and then with two outs, Moses came through again with a single to left to plate Wolbert. Shortstop
