#7 WolfPack closes out regular season with sixth consecutive shutout win

3-0 defeat of Waubonsee sends Madison College to postseason with 11-game unbeaten streak

SUGAR GROVE, ILL. - The Madison College men's soccer team has strung together an impressive streak of shutout wins to finish the regular season, as Saturday's 3-0 blanking of Waubonsee Community College made it six consecutive games without allowing a goal. The win also gives the #7-ranked WolfPack an 11-game unbeaten streak and an 8-5-2 lead in the all-time series with the Chiefs. Madison College is 9-0-2 against Region 4 teams this season, extending the program's unbeaten streak in region play to 28 straight matches heading into the Region 4 Tournament.

The WolfPack scored all three of their goals during the first half of their regular season finale with Waubonsee Community College (6-7-2). The scoring started in the 12' on a wild sequence near the net. Sophomore Josh Kiltz, who would see an incredible six-match scoring streak come to an end, put a shot on goal that was saved by the Chiefs goalkeeper. The rebounded went right to freshman Owen Counsell, who fired off a shot but was also denied by the keeper with a sprawling save that sent the ball off the right post. A WCC player attempted to clear the ball; however, he sent it right to freshman Ben Young. His shot on goal ricochet off the shoulder of a Waubonsee defender and went into the goal as the GK again came flying behind in an attempt to make the save. The goal is Young's second this season.

Madison College added some breathing room in the 31' when freshman Cris Quezada centered a pass towards the top of the penalty area, where fellow first year Dylan Sutton redirected it with his left foot in a failed attempt to control the ball. What it did was create a mad dash to the ball near the goalie box between freshman midfielder Bryan Diaz, a WCC defender, and the goalkeeper. As all three players collided, Diaz was able to get enough of a foot on it to roll the ball over the goalline and into the net for his third goal of the year, including one in each of the last two matches.

In the 43', Madison College broke through again for the 3-0 cushion. The scoring change only happened because of the hustle of freshman Caden Pullar-Newman, who headed a free ball in the direction of Sutton. The forward from England controlled and immediately kicked a lead pass ahead for freshman Mass Ndure, who was a step or two ahead of two Chiefs defenders. Ndure, a midfielder from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, booted it past the oncoming goalkeeper for his first collegiate goal. The two assists for Sutton give him seven on the season and mark his first career multi-assist match.

The WolfPack finished with a 14-3 differential in total shots and a 9-2 lead in shots on goal. Kiltz led all player with five total shots, while he and Diaz both put two shots on goal. First year goalkeeper Thomas Randall made two saves en route to his eighth clean sheet. He has not allowed goal since giving up a pair of goals against Southeastern Community College on September 9. Madison College now boasts a scoreless minutes streak of 554 minutes.
