Rout of #10 Joliet gives WolfPack eight straight wins

Madison College dominates second, third quarters on the road

JOLIET, ILL. - Tuesday night's 76-49 win over Region 4 foe Joliet Junior College is the eighth straight victory for the Madison College women's basketball team, who have dominated the competition during that stretch with an average margin of victory of 24.1 points. It's the longest win streak since the 2018-19 season for the WolfPack, who are still receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division II Poll. The Pack improved their lead in the head-to-head series to 24-20 against the Wolves, who are ranked #10 in the NJCAA Division III Poll.

Madison College owned a 12-9 advantage in the first quarter when Joliet Junior College (10-10) put together six consecutive points to take a 15-12 lead after ten minutes. The margin became five points with an early JJC basket to open the second quarter; however, the WolfPack hit a groove and went on a 15-0 surge to take a ten-point lead. Ten more points after that complete an impressive 25-4 differential in the second quarter for the WolfPack, who led 37-19 at the break.

In the third quarter, Madison College kept its foot on the gas as they built a 52-26 lead by posting a 15-7 scoring advantage in the quarter. The WolfPack was able to keep JJC at bay over the final ten minutes en route to the 27-point win.

Sophomore Keelyn Zwirschitz paced the Pack with 15 points as she converted 4 of 7 shots with one 3-pointer and a perfect 6 for 6 effort at the free throw line. The Antigo, Wisconsin, native reached double-figures for the fifth time this season, and added four rebounds, one steal, and one blocked shot.

Serinity Metcalfe delivered 13 points as part of a packed statline that included six rebounds, seven steals, five assists, and one block. The seven steals matched a career-best for the Milwaukee, Wisconsin, product.

Forward Maddie DeSmet produced 11 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and one blocked shot.

Maia Ellis secured her third double-double of the year with ten points and ten rebounds. The second year guard from Verona, Wisconsin, owns nine games with ten or more rebounds, and seven games with double-digit points.

Dani Latz, a second year forward, match Ellis with a team-high ten boards, to go along with eight points, one assist, one block, and one steal. It's her sixth game with ten rebounds or more.

The WolfPack finished 29 for 63 (46%) for their fourth-highest shooting percentage in a game this season. They were also 3 for 15 (20%) from long range and 15 for 19 (79%) at the charity stripe.
