Where Are They Now? Jordan Bell – Softball (2013, 2016)

Team-first attitude has led Bell to succes on the softball diamond and in the hospital corridors

Jordan Bell, a former softball student-athlete at Madison College, has embarked on a fulfilling career at Children's Wisconsin Hospital, where she serves as an Audiology Rehab Assistant and Safety Coach. Her journey from the softball field to the hospital corridors is a testament to her dedication to helping others and her passion for working with children.

Bell's story is one of growth, transformation, and the lessons learned during her time at Madison College that continue to guide her in her professional and personal life.

A passion for helping others

Bell's decision to pursue a career in audiology and rehabilitation was driven by her love for working with kids and her passion for helping others. Madison College played a crucial role in shaping her career path, providing her with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in her current role.

"The Recreation Management and Health and Fitness programs at Madison College helped me gain certain skills and taught me how to interact with people, which I use in my job daily," Bell said.

Bell's dedication to her work at Children's Wisconsin Hospital reflects her commitment to lifelong learning and personal growth, values instilled in her during her time at Madison College.

A balanced life

Outside of her professional life, Bell enjoys an active and fulfilling family life. She and her long-time boyfriend are raising three children together, and they are a lively, on-the-go family.

Her hobbies include painting, playing sports, going on bike rides, and spending quality time with her loved ones. Bell's life is a testament to her ability to balance her career and personal interests while maintaining a strong connection with her family.

Bell discovered the power of life balance during her interrupted time at Madison College. Following a freshman season in 2013 that garnered all-conference, all-region, and all-region tournament accolades, she stepped away from school and softball to tend to some life obstacles.

"There was a lot going on in my personal life. I felt I was distracted and that I needed to take a break. The break allowed me to handle what I needed to and regroup so that I could be better athletically and academically," stated Bell.

She returned in 2016 and finished her career ranking among the best in program history for all-time hits (80), batting average (.396), home runs (5), doubles (24), runs (56), and runs batted in (52).

Lessons from the diamond

Bell's time at Madison College also taught her valuable lessons in adaptability and selflessness. She recalls how her coaches encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone for the betterment of the team.

In her first year, she transitioned from being a pull hitter to a more well-rounded one, and in her second year, she stepped into the outfield, despite being primarily an infielder.

"It was a little scary, batting as a pull hitter your whole softball career and then being asked to change how you bat before your first year of college ball. I trusted and listened to my coaches and ended the season with the best batting average (.455) I have ever had. It didn't matter how I felt - what mattered is how this would help our team," Bell said.

Bell's willingness to adapt and put the team's needs above her own played a significant role in the team's success, as she helped the WolfPack to a then-school record 36 wins in 2016, and she continues to carry these lessons with her in her professional career.

An unbreakable bond

Bell's connection with Madison College extends beyond her time as a student-athlete. She remains in touch with several of her former teammates, and they continue to support and watch each other grow.

These lifelong friendships, forged on the softball field, continue to be a source of inspiration and motivation for Bell.

"We even plan trips and travel out of the country together!" Bell shared.

A lifelong journey

As Bell reflects on her journey from Madison College to her current role at Children's Wisconsin Hospital, she is grateful for the experiences and opportunities that have shaped her life.

She continues to follow Madison College athletics and softball, staying connected to the institution that played such a pivotal role in her life.

Bell's story is a testament to the power of education, sports, and personal growth. From the softball field to the hospital corridors, she embodies the values of dedication, selflessness, and a commitment to lifelong learning. Her journey serves as an inspiration to all, reminding us that the lessons we learn and the relationships we build can carry us through life's challenges and triumphs.

"Being a student-athlete helped me maintain a healthy lifestyle and be strong mentally. You must prioritize your health to get the best performance out of yourself. You also must prioritize your time. Academically, Madison College and WolfPack softball prepared me for the jobs I had after school and the job I currently have. The classes that I took set me up for success," Bell said.
