JANESVILLE, WISC. - Three players produced hat tricks and the goalie recorded a clean sheet at Madison College routed UW-Whitewater at Rock County by a 17-0 final in a Region 4 men's soccer match. The goal total marks the most for the WolfPack since a 20-0 decision against UW-Fox Valley early in the 2006 campaign. In all, nine different players registered a goal, led by a trio of hat tricks from freshmen Riann Amini, João Forte, and
Hudson Nielsen. The win over the Warhawks gives the Pack a 15-1 all-time lead against the newest iteration of the UW-Rock County Rattlers.
Madison College came up empty on their first four shot attempts in the opening 20 minutes of the match, until the WolfPack appeared to score a 21' goal. The scoring strike by Amini was wiped out by an offsides call; however, less than a minute later, Amini made up for it with a crossing pass that found a wide open Nielsen for the first of his three goals.
First year forward
Junior Guerrero tallied his first career goal in the 29' to make it 2-0 on an assist from
John Soberon-Chehade. Guerrero then earned an assist when
JJ Espinosa score for the first time in his collegiate career. The first half lead reached 4-0 in the 40' as Espinosa connected with Forte to beat the UW-Whitewater at Rock County (0-4) goalkeeper.
The scoring came fast and furious in the second half, with the first scoring strike taking place just 36-seconds in and gave Espinosa a two-goal day. Nielsen, a native of Huntley, Illinois, was the first to complete a hat trick after posting back-to-back goals in the 49' and 50'. Forte, a forward from Sao Paulo, Brazil, matched Nielsen with consecutive goals in the 57' and 59', while Amini's hat trick came to fruition thanks to three goals in the second half, including the match's final successful kick in the 81' to make it 17-0.
Sophomore
Felipe Dewes joined Espinosa with two goals, while
Omar Perez Luna,
Cole Rogers, and Soberon-Chehade added their names to the list of single goal scorers.
Amini, Nielsen, and Forte each finished with seven points to lead the WolfPack. Guerrero and
Rodrigo Lasso were tops with three assists, while
Lukas Dogru added two.
