#24 Madison College dominates UW-SP at Marshfield, extends win streak to six

Offensive explosion results in six players scoring ten or more points

MADISON, WISC. - The Madison College men's basketball team posted a 112-61 win UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield on Tuesday night inside H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium one day after receiving the #24 ranking in the latest NJCAA Division II Poll, marking their first national ranking in Division II and their first in any poll in over a decade. Six players scored in double-figures, adding up to the highest scoring output since the 2018-19 season. The Pack is 12-5 all-time against the Marauders, who compete in the newly formed Wisconsin Competitive Sports League (WCSL) as non-NJCAA programs.

UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield (0-4) hung with Madison College for the early portion of the first half, trailing by two after four minutes of play. Back-to-back Carson McCormick three-pointers turned momentum to the home team.

A 15-0 surge later in the half pushed the differential to 35-14. The half ended with three more long range hits by the freshman from Janesville, Wisconsin, to give the WolfPack a 62-32 advantage.

The differential continued to grow throughout the final 20 minutes with runs of 15-0 and 7-0 en route to their largest margin of victory of the season.

McCormick posted 24 of his 27 points in the first half as he hit six of his seven 3-pointers. For the game, the 6'1" guard was 10 of 15 overall and 7 for 10 beyond the arc. He now owns three games this season with 27 or more points.

Ryen Jones, a freshman from Lawrenceville, Georgia, threw down dunks on five of his seven made baskets, while also adding a three-pointer as he tallied 15 points. Jones also had three rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Cullen Rauls and Will Dietrich contributed 12 points each, with Dietrich establishing a new career-best. The former Madison La Follette HS athlete was 5 for 6 overall and drained his lone three-point attempt. He added a free throw, three rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block. Rauls made 5 of 7 field goal attempts and both free throws, to go along with four boards, two steals, and one helper.

Ceegan Rauls and Amir Ford both came off the bench to score ten points. Rauls' first double-digit scoring effort included a pair of three-pointers, while Ford was a perfect 3 for 3 overall and 4 for 4 at the charity stripe. The Lovejoy, Georgia, native also matched sophomore JP Pleasant for the team lead in rebounds with six.

The WolfPack shot a season-bests of 64% (44-68) from the floor, 52% (14-27) from distance, and 77% (10-13) at the free throw line. Their 14 made triples are the second-most this season and mark the third game with 13 or more. Madison College dominated many other statistical categories, including rebounds (38-26), turnovers (13-24), points in the paint (50-18), points off turnovers (38-10), and fast break points (21-6).
