MADISON, WISC. - There is no question that Madison College freshman
Carson McCormick enjoys shooting inside
H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. Wednesday night he broke the WolfPack men's basketball single game record with nine 3-pointers to lead Madison College to a resounding 91-64 defeat of the College of Lake County, keeping the Pack unbeaten in Region 4 games. The win narrowed the all-time series gap to 6-4 in favor of the Lancers.
McCormick posted a career-high 31 points to become the second player this season to reach the 30-point plateau. Eleven days after becoming the fifth player in program history to make seven or more 3's in a single game, he's now the only player to ever make nine. In two home games so far this season, the Janesville, Wisconsin, native, is averaging 29.0 points, is 16 for 25 (64%) from outside the arc, and 21 for 31 (67%) overall. Comparatively, the 6'1" guard is averaging 4.0 points and is 1 for 8 in two road games.
Madison College led from start to finish en route to the win as sophomore guard

They eventually went up 10-2 after McCormick knocked down his first two from long range in back-to-back possessions. The differential was still just three points at 34-31 with 4:28 to play in the opening half when Madison College used an and-1 play from freshman
Wil Dietrich to start a quick 8-0 surge before taking a 42-33 lead into halftime.
The run improved to 10-2 as first year forward
Ryen Jones started the second half with a layup to extend the advantage into double digits. Later in the half, both teams combined for an impressive shooting display during a 19-6 surge by Madison College that included eight 3-pointers between the two teams, including a stretch of six in a row. Another 12-2 run for the home team brought the differential to a game-high of 82-51 with 4:30 left to play. McCormick sank his final and record-breaking 3-pointer as the clock approached 90 seconds remaining.
McCormick sank six of his nine bombs during the second half as Madison College drained nine of their 15 during the final 20 minutes, their most in a single game since pouring in 16 triples against St. Cloud Technical & Community College on November 9, 2019. They finished 15 for 30 (50%) beyond the arc as part of a 35 for 60 (58%) effort overall and a 6 for 10 (60%) showing at the free throw line.
Jones finished with 13 points on 6 of 8 shooting with one 3-pointer, to go along with four rebounds and two assists. Rauls tallied a dozen points and made two shots from distance, while also matching freshman guard
