ROCKFORD, ILL. - A blisteringly hot Rock Valley College shooting performance ended the Madison College women's basketball team's regular season with a lopsided 107-73 loss Tuesday night in a matchup of former conference rivals. The WolfPack had four players score in double-figures, however, the Golden Eagles, who are ranked #12 in the latest
NJCAA Division II Poll, buried 15 three-pointers to score the most points against Madison College in a game this season. The Pack finished the regular season with an 8-19 record.
A 6-6 game after four minutes saw Rock Valley College (22-6) score seven quick points, a run the culminated with their first three-pointer make of the night. The WolfPack hung tough and stayed with a couple of possessions for most of the quarter, however, RVC scored seven of the final nine points to take a 26-14 lead into the second quarter. A pair of 6-0 bursts in the second quarter helped the hosts outscored the WolfPack by a 24-13 margin and take a 50-27 lead into halftime.
The game really turned in the third quarter when Rock Valley College opened with a 10-0 surge and proceeded to knock down eight 3-pointers, including four in a row within a 51-second stretch. Madison College did win the fourth quarter by scoring 28 points.
Sophomore
Reyna Knox scored a career-high 18 points on 7 of 10 shooting with one make from beyond the arc. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native also converted 3 of 4 free throws en route to her second consecutive game with ten or more points and her ninth of the season.
Fellow second year guards
Mikala Williams and
Taylor Ripp joined in with 16 points each. Williams, also a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, made 6 of 9 shots overall and 4 of 7 free throws, to go along with a team-high five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Ripp, a former Lodi HS athlete, was a perfect 8 for 8 at the stripe and made 4 of 10 field goals. The team-leader in rebounding at 9.8 per game, collected a career-low one board.
Jordanna Davis rebounded from her first scoreless Sunday at MATC-Milwaukee to post 13 points, three rebounds, two assists, and a steal.Â
While the Golden Eagles were lighting it up from long range, the WolfPack struggled with a 2 for 13 (15%) effort. They also finished 44% (25-57) from the floor and were an impressive 21 of 25 (84%) at the free throw line. Rock Valley College controlled the glass by a 46-29 margin and generated an 18-4 edge in second chance points. They also were plus-12 in points off turnovers.
The all-time series now stands at 28-18 in favor of RVC, who has won the last 12 meetings.

Madison College (8-19) will begin the
2023 NJCAA Region 4 Division III Tournament on Friday, February 24 with a semifinal matchup against Joliet Junior College. The #3-seed WolfPack were swept in the regular season by the #2-seed Wolves. The all-time series favors Madison College by a 22-18 margin, while JJC has a narrow 4-3 edge in postseason meetings. Tip off in Joliet, Illinois, is set for 3:00 p.m. The winner will advance to play the winner of the 1:00 p.m. semifinal between #1-seed College of DuPage (13-14, 6-1) and #4 Harper College (3-22, 0-7) on Sunday.
