WolfPack escape Bryant & Stratton for sixth straight win

Four score in double-figures to lead Madison College in comeback victory

MILWAUKEE, WISC. - The Madison College men's basketball team displayed plenty of resilience Tuesday night in rallying for a 73-70 come-from-behind victory over in-state and Region 4 foe Bryant & Stratton College. Keith Hoffman and Cortez Telfered lead four-players in double-figures as the WolfPack, who are receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division III Poll, overcame a 20-point halftime deficit to extend their current win streak to six games. The win also gives the 'Pack a 3-1 lead in the all-time series, while continuing the series tradition of every game being decided by three-points or less.

Even at 9-9 six minutes into the game, the Bobcats began to pull away in the first half with a 15-5 surge that generated the game's first double-digit lead. A second 15-5 run to end the half gave the home team a 46-26 advantage. Nik Feller and Hoffman buried consecutive three-pointers to ignite an 11-3 start to the half for Madison College, however, BSC answered with seven more points to regain a 19-point differential. As the game moved under 11 minutes remaining, the WolfPack had slowly trimmed the deficit to nine. Back-to-back buckets by Hoffman triggered a 10-1 burst the tied the game at 62 with six minutes to play. The remainder of the game featured five ties and three lead changes until Hoffman broke a 70-70 tie with makes on 3 of 4 free throws to give Madison College the win. Bryant & Stratton College (8-11) missed its final three shots over the last 90 seconds.

Hoffman posted 16 points and nine rebounds, with three of his five baskets coming from long range. He has tallied ten or more points in 11 consecutive games. Telfered, a fellow freshman from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, came off the bench and also dropped in 16 points, making two of his five shots from beyond the arc and adding four free throws. In three games since being added to the roster, Telfered is averaging 12.3 points per game.

Sophomore Malcolm Reed established a new season-high point total with 14 points on 6 of 12 shooting and a pair of free throws. The Barneveld, Wisconsin, native also had four rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block. First year guard Telin Porter stepped off the bench and was perfect from the floor on all four attempts and a pair of three-pointers to contribute ten points.

Madison College registered a season-high shooting percentage after converting 27 of 54 (50%) attempts overall, while also knocking down ten 3-pointers for third time this season and for the first time since November 20. The 'Pack boasted a 39-31 edge in rebounding and a 34-24 lead in bench points.
