Lopsided victory propels WolfPack win streak to five games

Nine goal second half keyed by three players with multiple goals

OAK CREEK, WISC. - A narrow 2-0 match at halftime turned into the largest scoring output in four seasons for the Madison College men's soccer team with an 11-0 defeat of in-state and North Central Community College Conference rival Milwaukee Area Technical College on Saturday. Sophomore Jonas Luskey Sanders' hat trick led a trio of WolfPack players with multiple goals en route to the team's fifth consecutive win. The 11 goals are the most since a 12-0 decision against Elgin Community College in September 2017.

The first half saw the visiting 'Pack take a 2-0 lead with goals from Luskey Sanders in the 13' and fellow sophomore Matthew Ruggiero in the 38'. The successful kicks were assisted by Omar Torres and Brayan Loyo, respectively.

The match immediately turned with the start of the second half as Luskey Sanders set up Lucas Martin-Heid for a goal less than two minutes in. Freshman Isaak Cordova then struck for two goals in a 30-second span in the 49'. The forward from DeKalb, Illinois, knocked in a rebound off a Luskey Sanders shot that was deflected by the Milwaukee Area Technical College (0-4, 0-3) goalkeeper. Cordova tallied his fourth goal of the season within the same minute and Luskey Sanders racked up his second assist of the game.

Luskey Sanders kept the pressure on the Stormers with his team leading 5-0, netting back-to-back goals in the 55' and 58' to record his first career hat trick. Jose Gonzalez and Loyo were awarded assists on the goals, which gave the Madison, Wisconsin, native a team-leading six goals on the year. Madison College added to their winning total with the first career goals from freshmen Caeben Schomber and Oszkar Siklos, with Siklos putting back-to-back shots in the back of the net. Midfielder Adrian Henkovic capped the scoring with an 87th minute goal.

Luskey Sanders, a former Madison East HS athlete, piled up eight points in the match, which ranks him in a tie for fourth for total points in a single game in team history. He led the team with five shots on goal as part of a team effort that amassed a 22-2 advantage in shots on goal and a 32-3 lead in total shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Sebastian Varela got the start and made one save in his 59 minutes on in net. Freshman Joey Griswold did the same over 30-plus minutes. The combined shutout is the first clean sheet for Madison College this season.

The win extends the WolfPack's win streak against the Stormers to 17 straight, and pushes their lead in the all-time series to 47-15-2.
