CLERMONT, FL. - In both games during the third day of the 2019 Madison College softball spring trip, the WolfPack rallied from behind to score seven runs over the final two innings to win each game. In the first game, the WolfPack beat Anderson University JV, 7-1, while rallying to beat Iowa Lakes Community College, 9-4, after trailing 4-2 after four innings.
Game #1: #12 Madison College 7, Anderson University JV 1 (7 innings)
The WolfPack trailed 1-0 after one inning on a two-out home run by the Lakers. The score remained 1-0 until the top of the sixth inning when the WolfPack capitalized on three hits and two errors to score three runs and take the lead. The 'Pack extended the lead in the seventh inning on a
Montana Platts single and a
Kaela Kraemer double, scoring four runs, putting the game out of reach at 7-1, and giving Madison College its third straight victory.
Olivia Bancroft-Hart continued her hot streak going 2-for-3, while teammate
Montana Platts went 2-for-4 with a season-high four RBIs. Former Wisconsin Heights High School athlete
Kaela Kraemer added two RBIs on her seventh inning double.
Former Columbus High School righthander
Brianna Farrington pitched a great game by just giving up a first inning home run. Farrington struck out three and did not walk a batter in seven innings of work. Farrington received her second win of the season.
Game #2: #12 Madison College 9, Iowa Lakes Community College 4 (7 innings)
As in the first game, the WolfPack fell behind early, trailing 4-2 after four innings before rallying to score seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth, the 'Pack used a home run by
Dany Gumz, a single by
Montana Platts, and a double by
Nicole Ferch to put three runs on the board. In the following inning, the WolfPack had six hits that generated four runs including a two-out double by
Morgan Dercola that scored two runs. The 'Pack won 9-4 over NJCAA Division II Iowa Lakes Community College.
In total, Madison College belted fourteen hits, led by second year first basemen
Dany Gumz' 4-for-4, 3-RBI afternoon. Her second year teammate
Nicole Ferch also had a great day as she went 3-for-3 with two RBI.
Paige Cornelissen and
Montana Platts each had a pair of hits while
Morgan Dercola had a pair of RBI.
Righthander
Maddie Fink started the game, going four innings, striking out three, walking two, and surrendering seven hits and three earned runs.
Jordan Martin pitched in relief, earning her fifth win. Martin went three innings, striking out five and allowing just one hit.

Madison College (9-3) has a day off on Monday before resuming play on Tuesday, March 19 with two games. The WolfPack will play Onondaga Community College (NY) at 10:15 a.m. CST/11:15 a.m. EST, and then play Highland Community College (IL) at 12:30 p.m. CST/1:30 p.m. EST. Both games will be at Legends Way Ballfields, in Clermont, FL.
