ROCHESTER, MINN. - A highly-competitive game between the Madison College men's basketball team and Rochester Community & Technical College ended with a 74-66 decision in favor of the home team Tuesday. The loss for the WolfPack comes despite a career effort from sophomore guard
Earl Lewis, who posted his first career double-double. The Yellowjackets boosting their lead in the all-time series to 17-13, while also snapping a two-game win streak by the 'Pack in head-to-head matchups.
The game stayed within one possession for the first seven-plus minutes until freshman
Dayton Coleman made it a five-point lead with an interior basket. The advantage hit six on a
Kyle Nett three-pointer, and peaked at seven when
Allen Robinson hit the second of two free throws. However, Rochester Community & Technical College (3-1) fought back and eventually held a 34-32 lead at halftime. In the second half, the visitors re-took the lead and had it as high six on two occasions, the last of which was a Lewis triple with the clock nearing the midway point. A 10-2 run by the Yellowjackets put the WolfPack in a deficit they would never recover from as RCTC pulled away.
Lewis, who has scored in double-figures in three of the previous six games, registered career-high's with 22 points and ten rebounds for his first career double-double. The Madison, Wisconsin, native converted 8 of 20 shots, including a career-best 6 of 15 from beyond the arc. The 6'1" Lewis also reeled in ten boards, with four coming on the offensive end.
Robinson, a freshman from Goose Creek, South Carolina, was the only other WolfPack player to score in double-digits, racking up 18 points 6 of 15 shooting with a pair of 3's. He also added a 4 for 6 effort at the free throw line, a career-high six steals, three assists, and two rebounds. Washington, who had seven points on the night, dished out a team-leading four assists.
Rochester Community & Technical College dominated the paint and glass with a 53-35 edge in rebounding, and 18-10 margin in second chance points, and a 36-16 differential in points in the paint. The two teams combined for 55 turnovers, which gave Madison College a slim 19-16 advantage in points off turnovers.

Madison College (4-6) stays on the road following the Thanksgiving holiday with a trip to Chicago, Illinois, on Saturday, November 30 to take on NJCAA Division I Malcolm X College (4-3). The two team's only prior meeting was in December 1997, with the WolfPack taking an 80-70 win in a holiday tournament in Freeport, Illinois. Tip off is set for 3:00 p.m., and will be preceded by a 1:00 p.m. start for the women's game.
