First N4C win comes in impressive fashion over Harper College

Lee's 30 points paces WolfPack, who will not play Saturday due to cancellation

MADISON, WISC. - Still searching for their first win the North Central Community College Conference, the Madison College women's basketball team made sure that drought would not last any longer on Wednesday night at H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium with an 82-53 run-away victory over Harper College. Sophomore Shaquita Lee poured in a career-high 30 points to lead a trio of WolfPack players that scored in double figures. Madison College is now 15-2 all-time against the Hawks and riding a 13-game win streak in the head-to-head series..

The WolfPack produced their best shooting performance of the season with a 37 of 71 effort for 52% from the field, topping the previous best percentage of 48.5%. That accomplishment came despite going 2 for 11 from outside the arc. As a result, the 'Pack owned a 46-22 edge in points in the paint, to go along with a 22-10 advantage in points off turnovers, and an 8-2 lead in second chance scoring. The home team controlled the glass by a 44-28 margin over Harper College (1-17, 0-3).

Lee posted a career-best 30 points to give the 5'8" guard a 27.0 points per game average through her first three outings with the 'Pack. The Madison, Wisconsin, native was 13 of 22 from the floor and 4 for 6 at the free throw line. Lee reeled in 11 rebounds to register her first career double-double, while also leading the WolfPack with seven assists and six steals to establish career-highs in all three categories.



Freshman Aniah Williams scored 25 points for her third consecutive game with at least that many points. The former Beloit Memorial High School athlete was 11 of 21 with a three-pointer and two free throws.

Tianna Sackett, a sophomore guard from West Salem, Wisconsin, drained 9 of 13 field goals and one triple en route to the best scoring game of her career with 19 points. She also finished with eight boards.

Madison College opened with a 6-0 run and added a run of 10-0 to close the first quarter with a 23-10 lead. Up by 20 at the half, the WolfPack would shoot 61% in the second half to continue pulling away, eventually leading by a 37 points midway through the fourth quarter.

Up Next: 

Madison College (11-5, 1-2) was scheduled to play against Wilbur Wright College on Saturday, January 12, however, the game against the Rams has been cancelled. Therefore, the 'Pack is off until starting a four-game road trip on Wednesday, January 16 at the College of DuPage (3-13, 0-2). The WolfPack has won 11 straight games over the Chaparrals and are 23-13 all-time against COD. Tip off in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, is at 5:00 p.m.
