MILWAUKEE, WISC. - For the 33rd consecutive match, the Madison College women's volleyball team defeated in-state and longest rival Milwaukee Area Technical College on Tuesday night inside Alverno College's Reinman Gymnasium. The #8-ranked WolfPack downed the Stormers in three sets, 25-20, 25-11, 25-18 for 19th straight match. The all-time series now stands at 86-29-3 in favor of the 'Pack.
Madison College outhit the Stormers by a 38 to 10 margin in kills, posting a .272 attack percentage compared to -.093 for Milwaukee. The visitors also registered ten aces to home team's three en route to extending a season-high match win streak to five.
Despite leading 7-2 in the opening set, the WolfPack soon found themselves trailing 8-7. Still down one at 19-18 late in the set, the 'Pack took seven of the final eight points to get the win, a run that included kills by
Paige Hostetler,
Isabella Carrillo, and
Tianna Sackett. The second set featured two substantial runs for Madison College, which opened with an 11-1 surge and closed with a 9-1 burst. Milwaukee Area Technical College (1-2, 1-2) kept the third set close early, but a rally of nine out of ten points turned a 13-12 set into a more lopsided differential.
Sophomore setter
Olivia Darkow picked up an assist on 32 of the team's 38 kills, and helped two of her teammates reach double-digit kills. Hostetler, an outside hitter, picked up a team-high 15 kills and hit .357, while also collecting eight digs. Sackett, a middle blocker/outside hitter, established new season-high's with 12 kills and a .647 hitting efficiency. Second year defensive specialist
Paige Alsum was tops in aces with a career-best four, and freshman
Kacee Kruczek led the defensive effort with nine digs.

Madison College (7-3, 2-0) plays in the Toppers Pizza Volleyball Invitational, hosted by Rochester Community & Technical College, this weekend in Rochester, Minnesota. The WolfPack will open play Friday, September 7 at 11:00 a.m. against NJCAA Division II Des Moines Area Community College (6-0), which beat the 'Pack by a 3-1 final in last weekend's Waubonsee Invitational. At 3pm, they will oppose Central Lakes College (MN), which is 7-0 and ranked #3 in the
NJCAA Division III Preseason Poll. On Saturday, the competition continues with a 9:00 a.m. first serve against NJCAA DII and 5-0 Bismarck State College (ND), followed by a 1:00 pm match with NCAA Division III Bethel University (MN) JV.
