100-PLUS FOR 100TH GAME: WolfPack top century mark in historic win over Milwaukee

Young, Buss combine for 62 points to snap two-game win streak

MILWAUKEE, WISC. - In fitting fashion for the 100th all-time meeting between two long-time rivals, Madison College topped the century mark in earning a 104-94 victory over Milwaukee Area Technical College on Saturday at Alverno College's Reiman Gymnasium. A close game from the opening tip, the WolfPack pulled away down the stretch to claim their fourth straight victory over the Stormers and increase their lead to 55-45 in the head-to-head series. The win, which snaps a two-game losing streak in North Central Community College Conference play, saw guards Tyree Young and Nathaniel Buss combine to score 62 points.

An ultra-competitive game saw four ties and 11 lead changes, all of which occurred during the first 20 minutes. Up by two after four minutes, Madison College connected on five 3-pointers over an eight possession stretch to assume an eight-point advantage at 25-17. Five minutes later, Milwaukee Area Technical College (11-14, 3-7) owned its largest lead of the game at 43-33, capping a 26-8 Stormers surge. The WolfPack closed the half with runs of 11-0 and 9-0 to take a narrow 53-50 lead into halftime.

Madison College never surrendered the lead throughout the second half, though MATC-Milwaukee made numerous attempts to regain the advantage. A three-pointer with eight-and-a-half minutes remaining cut the differential to one, however, Young and Buss connected on back-to-back buckets in response. Still a three-point game with under five minutes remaining, the 'Pack put together an 11-4 run that saw Young drill his second triple of the game to regain a ten-point lead as the two minute mark neared.

Young posted 37 points to fall one point shy of his career-high of 38 set back in November, scoring 21 of those points in the final ten minutes of the game, and close out the seventh-highest scoring performance in program history. The second 30-plus point game of his career and the 11th game this season with at least 20 points came in Young's final visit to his hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The sophomore shot an extremely efficient 13 of 18 overall and 2 of 5 from long range, while also knocking down 9 of 11 free throws.

Buss drained five of his seven made field goals from three-point territory, and also went 6 for 8 at the charity stripe, to establish a new career-best point total. The freshman from Verona, Wisconsin, is 10 for 15 from long range over the last two games. Buss also dished out a team-high seven assists.

Fellow first year Alex Easterday was the third player to score in double-figures with 11 points, and came up one rebound shy of his second double-double with a team-leading nine boards.

Madison College converted 35 of 65 shots to reach 53.8%, the 11th game this season at 50% or higher. The WolfPack drilled 11 three-pointers, reaching double-figure 3's for the third time in four game. At the free throw line, a 23 for 36 effort tied the season-high mark for attempts and fell one shy of matching their high for makes.
