FREEPORT, ILL. - A competitive game turned sour for the Madison College men's basketball team in the second half on Saturday, ending with the season's first loss in a 90-44 setback at Highland Community College. The WolfPack trailed by 13 at the half, but were outscored by a 51-18 differential in the second half to mark their seventh consecutive loss to the NJCAA Division I Cougars.
After shooting better than 50% in all areas two days prior, Madison College finished 15 of 51 (29.4%) from the floor and made 6 of 22 (27.3%) three-pointers. The 'Pack also finished with 22 turnovers. Meanwhile, Highland Community College (1-0) converted just under half of its attempts with a 48.5% showing overall and 42.9% from long range. They also attempted 16 more free throws and made nine more than the WolfPack.
Second-year guard
Jalen Addison, who transferred to Madison College from NJCAA Division II Parkland College (IL), tallied ten points, three rebounds, three steals, and one assist. The former Milwaukee Hamilton HS athlete was 4 for 10 shooting overall and 2 for 7 around the arc. First year forward
Adam Anhold also reached ten points and narrowly missed his first career double-double with nine rebounds. The transfer from Bemidji State University went 4 for 8 from the floor and made his lone three-point and free throw attempts.
The all-time series between the two schools now stands at 27-7 in favor of HCC.

Madison College (1-1) travels to Coon Rapids, Minnesota, this weekend for the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Tournament, which will also wrap up a season-opening four-game road trip. The WolfPack will play the host Golden Rams (0-0) on Friday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m., followed by a 12:00 p.m. tip against St. Cloud Technical College (MN/0-0) on Saturday, November 10. Through eight prior meetings with ARCC, the 'Pack is 4-4 after a win at last year's tournament. Meanwhile, Madison College has split two meetings the past couple of seasons with the Cyclones, with the lone win coming last November.
