PALATINE, ILL. - The Madison College women's volleyball team finds itself in a season-long three-game losing streak as the regular season nears it's conclusion. The WolfPack, currently ranked #9 in the
NJCAA Division III Poll, was swept in three sets, 25-18, 25-14, 25-16, at #10 Harper College on Thursday night to finish off the North Central Community College Conference portion of their schedule. The loss drops the 'Pack one-game back of the Hawks in the
league standings and into third place after the two rivals split their regular season series.
For the first time all season, Madison College failed to record an ace from the service line. On the flip side, the WolfPack struggled with a dozen receiving errors and allowed Harper College (20-11, 9-3) to amass 12 aces against them. The host Hawks also took advantage of a 10-3 differential in blocks to halt the 'Pack attack. Madison College registered a .111 attack percentage with 21 kills on 81 attempts, while Harper posted a .227 hitting efficiency with 25 kills on 66 attack attempts.
Sophomore
Paige Hostetler racked up nearly half of the WolfPack's kills in the match with ten as she hit .026 for the match. Freshmen
Tianna Sackett and
Isabella Carrillo had six and four kills, respectively, while both hitting over .200.
Olivia Darkow, the team's sophomore setter, had 17 assists, to go along with a kill and three digs. Libero
Maddie Scalissi, a second year player from Milton, Wisconsin, finished with 14 digs, while fellow sophomore defensive specialist
Paige Alsum added eight digs.
The Hawks have won nine of the last 11 meetings and narrowed the all-time series gap to a single game at 17-16 in favor of Madison College.
