Penalty kicks key WolfPack rally in second straight win

Andrews brothers tally all three goals in return to Madison College soccer

MADISON, WISC. - A pair of penalty kicks propelled the Madison College men's soccer team to its second straight win to start the season, defeating Illinois Valley Community College by a 3-1 final. The three goals were all scored by the Andrews brothers, who made their season debut after returning to the program following commitments to NCAA Division II Chaminade University. The WolfPack is now 3-0 all-time against the Eagles.

After falling behind 1-0 with a IVCC goal in the 12th minute, Madison College tallied the equalizer on a penalty kick rebound converted by Toby Andrews for his first goal of the season in the 24th minute. Freshman Vital Nizigiymana attempted the penalty kick, which was denied by the Eagles goalkeeper and sent in the direction of Andrews for the rebound try.

In the second half, Jake Andrews found his way into the scoring column with a successful penalty kick in the 54th minute that put the 'Pack ahead for good. The game-winning goal marks the second of his career.

Madison College created some separation late in the match with an unassisted goal by Toby Andrews. His 81st minute score made it a two-goal lead and give the reigning NJCAA All-American the team lead in goals scored through two games.

The WolfPack outshot the Eagles by a 26-8 margin, including an 11-5 advantage in shots on goal. The steady offensive attack led to ten corner kicks for the 'Pack compared to zero for Illinois Valley (0-2). Goalkeeper Blake Dehn finished with four saves
