Madison College pitched well and out hit Cuyahoga Community College (OH) but could not find a way to plate a run, losing 1-0, in their first game on Sunday. In their second game, the WolfPack scored 10 runs and held Niagara County Community College (NY) scoreless, winning 10-0.
Game #1: Cuyahoga (OH) Community College 1, Madison College 0
The WolfPack duo of Emily Widerholt and
Mackenzie Terrill, pitched well in the first game, surrendering just three hits and one run over seven innings. Unfortunately, a fourth inning run hit off Emily Widerholt proved costly as the Pack' could not score. Wiederholt, who received the loss, ended up striking out four and walking three while Terrill struck out two and did not walk anyone.
Offensively, Madison College outhit Cuyahoga 4-3 as
Hannah Jensen,
Brooke Heck,
Ashley Kniesel and
Breanna Bollig were the only WolfPack players with a hit.
Ashley Kniesel posted the team's only double while
Breanna Bollig earned the teams only stolen base.
The 1-0 loss was the WolfPack's first of the spring trip and was their first loss in the last nine games.
Game #2: Madison College 10, Niagara County (NY) Community College 0
The Madison College bats came alive in the second game of the day on Sunday as the WolfPack scored seven runs in the first three innings before scoring three additional runs in the fifth. The Pack' had a total of nine hits led by first year Monona Grove H.S. infielder,
Bre Feiler, who went 3-for-3 with an RBI and triple. Katelin Gilbertson was the other WolfPack player with multiple hits as she was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Hannah Weinen and
Riley Landenberger combined for a shutout. Weinen struck out six while not surrendering a hit before
Riley Landenberger pitched two innings, striking out two, and giving up just two hits. Weinen earned her second win of the season and the WolfPack improved to 5-1 on the spring trip and 9-3 overall.
Madison College has a day off before they get back on the field against Heartland Community College (IL) at 12:00 CST in Clermont, FL. In the second game, the Pack' play Marshalltown Community College (IA) at 2:30 CST.
