RECORD ROUT: WolfPack stifle Kougars to program record 13 points

Madison College forces 42 turnovers, holds Kishwaukee to five baskets in 60-point win

MADISON, WISC. - In one of the most lopsided game's in school history, the Madison College women's basketball team made history Friday with a one-sided defeat of Kishwaukee College inside H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. The WolfPack, receiving votes in the NJCAA Division III Poll for a second consecutive week, set new program records for points allowed in a game and in a half during their 73-13 dismantling of the NJCAA Division II Kougars. The defensive effort by the 'Pack, which included holding Kishwaukee to two points in the entire second half, bested by a point the previous record of 14 points allowed in a 90-14 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran College on December 1, 1986. It also marks the eighth time in school history holding a team to less than 20 points for an entire game.

Madison College raced out of the gates to take a 19-0 before the Kougars finally scored their first points nearly seven minutes into the game. Up 25-2 after one quarter, the second proved to be more competitive with the home team winning the ten-minute session by a 14-9 margin and taking a 39-11 lead into the half.

The second half saw Kishwaukee (5-7) convert only one of their 24 field goal attempts. That lone basket came with 6:21 remaining in the third, giving way to a 25-0 run by the WolfPack to end the game. The two points allowed for a half are also a new program best, highlighted by a 16-0 scoring difference in the fourth quarter. It's the second time Madison College has held a team scoreless in a quarter since format change to women's basketball took place before the 2015-16 season, joining a 21-0 blitz of Wilbur Wright College during a road North Central Community College Conference game on February 8.

The WolfPack also took advantage of the Kougars' 42 turnovers by scoring 43 points on subsequent possessions. The home team owned a 37-point edge in points off turnovers, a 26-point advantage in points in the paint, and a 15-1 differential in second chance scoring. Madison College shot 44.8% (26-58) overall and made 6-of-19 (31.6%) from beyond the arc, while Kishwaukee finished 5-for-43 (11.6%) from the floor and 1-of-13 (7.7%) from deep. At the free throw line, the home team converted 15-of-26 (57.7%) attempts and the visitors knocked down only 2-of-10 (20%).

Taking advantage of a 4-for-9 effort from long range, highlighted by three's in back-to-back possessions in the second quarter, sophomore Megan Corcoran finished with a game-high 21 points. It's the ninth 20-plus-point scoring game of the season for the Madison, Wisconsin, native, who also gathered six rebounds and a career-best six steals.

Abby Meehan, Peyton Trapino, and Caitlyn Gilbertson all tallied ten points each, going a combined 12-for-23 overall and 6-for-7 at the free throw line. Trapino, a sophomore from DeForest, Wisconsin, had a team-leading seven assists and six steals. Second year guard Cheyanne Jo Udelhoven registered seven points and a team-leading seven rebounds, and freshman Macey Klebesadel added four points and a career-best eight steals.

The 13 points for Kishwaukee also marks a low for either team in the all-time series, which stands at 14-8 in favor of Madison College. The WolfPack have won back-to-back games over the Kougars by 63 and 60 points. Three of the last four meetings have been decided by an average of 60.7 points.
