Madison College Softball finished their spring trip strong with two wins on their final day in Florida.
Hannah Jensen shutout Ancilla College, 4-0, in the first game and in the second game the WolfPack scored five runs in the seventh to win 11-6.
vs. Ancilla College - 4-0 WINHannah Jensen pitched an outstanding game for the WolfPack. Jensen overcame five fielding errors to throw a complete game shutout. Jensen scattered four hits, struck out four and walked two in facing 32 batters. Her impressive performance motivated her teammates to generate nine hits and four runs.
Madison College got on the board first with one run in the first. The score stayed 1-0 until the WolfPack struck again in the fifth with two runs on four hits. Madison College then added a final run in the sixth inning on a
Jordan Bell homerun to center.
While Jensen improved to 3-5 on the season, nine WolfPack batters posted a hit and four players earned an RBI in the victory. In addition to
Jordan Bell's homerun,
Lindsey Bollig had a double and
Brooke Heck had a sacrifice fly.
vs. Highland Community College - 11-6 WINIn the final game of the spring trip the WolfPack faced National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region IV opponent, Highland Community College. The Madison College offense matched hits with the Cougars as both teams belted 12 hits a piece. The difference in the game proved to be one more five run inning then Highland.
The WolfPack scored five runs in the third and Highland scored five runs in the fifth with both teams picking up one additional run to have the score, 6-6, heading to the top of the seventh. In the top of the seventh, the WolfPack bats once again produced a five run inning with four hits and two errors on Highland.
All in all, Madison College had four players including
Brenna Seeber,
Lindsey Bollig,
Brooke Heck, and
Cheyenne Holmes belt two hits a piece.
Lindsey Bollig posted a game-high four RBI and teammate,
Brooke Heck, also had a multiple RBI night with two.
Bailey Kratt led all players with two stolen bases.
Jenalee Wilson earned with seventh win of the season pitching a complete game. Wilson allowed twelve hits but only three earned runs while striking out five and walking just one.
With the win, Madison College got back to .500 (11-11) and ended their spring trip with a 6-7 mark. Next game for the WolfPack will be a doubleheader on Friday, March 25 in Rosemount, MN, in the Irish Sports Dome, against Lake Region State College at 11:30 a.m.
