WolfPack Softball Beats Monroe, Falls to Muscatine

Madison College earned their fourth straight win against National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III, Monroe Community College, 13-2, by run-rule in the fifth inning before losing to NJCAA Division I, Muscatine Community College, 10-2, by run-rule.

vs. Monroe Community College - 13-2 WIN

The WolfPack earned their fourth consecutive win on their spring trip with a 13-2 run-rule victory over Monroe Community College. Madison College scored five runs right out of the gate and added three more in the second inning to take a 8-2 lead heading to the fourth. In the fourth inning, the 'Pack added one more run before exploding for four runs to end the game in the fifth. All in all, the WolfPack tallied 13 total hits and committed just one error.

Breena Seeber, Bailey Kratt, Brooke Heck, and Cheyenne Holmes each had two hits while Kratt, Heck, Holmes and teammate, Samantha Yaeger, each had two RBI. Nine WolfPack players had at least one hit for the game, four players had extra basehits and four players had stolen bases.

Second year righthander, Jenalee Wilson, earned her sixth win of the season pitching a complete game. Wilson surrendered just three hits and one earned run while striking out four batters and not allowing a walk.

vs. Muscatine Community College - 10-2 WIN

In the exact opposite of their earlier game, the opposing team jumped on the board early to the tune of seven runes over the first two innings. Muscatine added three more runs in the fifth to take a commanding 10-0 lead before the WolfPack responded in the bottom of the fifth. Unfortunatley, the WolfPack's two runs in the fifth weren't enough to extend the game and it ended 10-2 by run-rule. Madison College had seven hits and four errors in the loss.

The WolfPack did not have a player with multiple hits but had seven players with one hit including Brianna Smith and Brenna Seeber who each had RBI as well. Lindsey Bollig and Meredith Holt both had doubles in the game.

Hannah Jensen received her fourth loss of the season pitching four and two-thirds innings. Jensen gave up nine runs and nine hits, striking out one and walked five. Jenalee Wilson came in for relief in the fifth and pitched one-third inning.

The WolfPack Softball team earns a well deserved day off tomorrow. The team is currently 9-7 overall and 4-3 on the spring trip. On Tuesday, the WolfPack are back in action against, NJCAA Division I, Marshalltown Community College, at 3:00 p.m. and, NJCAA Division II, Spoon River College (IL), at 5:00 p.m. Both games will be played at Hancock Park in Clermont, FL.
