WolfPack Softball's offense produced just two runs in each game today and that output proved not enough as the 'Pack suffered losses to Marshalltown Community College, 4-2, and Spoon River College, 11-2, in back-to-back games at Hancock Park in Clermont, FL.
vs. Marshalltown Community College - 4-2 LOSSAfter spliting their first two games with National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Marshalltown Community College, the WolfPack faced the Tigers for the third time this season. The WolfPack got on the scoreboard first in the bottom half of the first inning when
Bailey Kratt scored on a
Cheyenne Holmes sacrifice fly hit to deep left field. The Tigers answered a half inning later with three runs on four hits. The score remained 3-1 until the sixth inning when each team traded one run innings to push the score to 4-2 and that is where it remained.
Madison College managed just four hits on the game and
Brooke Heck accounted for two of them. Heck continued her hot streak going 2-for-3 with a double.
Bailey Kratt and
Lindsey Bollig had the other two hits for the 'Pack while
Brianna Smith and
Cheyenne Holmes had one RBI a piece on their sacrifice flies.
Hannah Jensen received the loss despite striking out six batters, not walking anyone and surrendering only three earned runs. Jensen did scatter nine hits in 31 batters faced over seven complete innings of work. The WolfPack fell 4-2 in seven innings.
vs. Spoon River College - 11-2 LOSSIn the second game of the day, Madison College's offense struggled. While NJCAA Division II, Spoon River College, racked up eleven runs over the first four innings, the WolfPack managed just two hits. It wasn't until the top of the fifth inning when the 'Pack was trailing 11-0 that the offense strung together multiple base hits and scored two runs to avoid the shutout but not the run-rule.
Brenna Seeber led all WolfPack batters with two hits on 2-for-3 hitting while teammate
Brooke Heck posted two RBIs.
Hannah Jensen, who played third base, was 1-for-1 with a stolen base.
First year righthander,
Elizabeth Wahl, received the loss, pitching the first two and one-third innings. Wahl struck out three, walked four, scattered five hits and surrendered three earned runs in facing eighteen batters.
Jenalee Wilson came in for relief and pitched one and two-thirds innings, giving up three earned runs on three hits. Wilson struck out three and walked one in the 11-2 run-rule loss.
Madison College will try to get back into the win column when they face NJCAA Division II Ancilla College, from Indiana, at Hancock Park, in Clermont, FL, tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
