CHICAGO, ILL. - Trailing by one with some 13 minutes left to play and trying to build off their most recent win, the Madison College men's basketball team summoned all the right pieces to pull out a second straight North Central Community College Conference road victory and defeated Wilbur Wright College 69-58 on Saturday. The WolfPack now sit in a fifth-place tie at 3-5 in the league.
The Rams owned the lead in a closely played first half before Madison College (9-13, 3-5) proved they would be the best team at finishing each half. Down 22-19 with 8:01 to play before halftime, the 'Pack put together a 13-4 burst with four different players contributing offensively and led by six at the break.
A similar storyline played out in the second half. Wilbur Wright (1-20, 0-8) opened quickly and re-assumed the lead on a 7-0 run to put the Rams ahead 41-40 at the 13:20 mark remaining in the game. But once again, the WolfPack fit together all the right pieces and rallied to build a 14-point lead en route to the victory.
Madison College played opportunistic basketball, scoring 16 points off 14 WWC turnovers, all while taking care of the ball on their own end with a season-low nine turnovers. Also pivotal in the win were a 36-24 edge in points in the paint and a plus-ten differential in free throw conversions. The 'Pack made their final ten attempts at the charity stripe to seal the win and finish 21-for-25, compared to an 11-of-13 mark by the Rams.

Ethan Lurquin paced the scoring with 15 points and eight rebounds to finish a couple of boards short of his first career double-double. The Poynette, Wisconsin, product has scored ten or more pointsin back-to-back games and in nine of 11 games played this season. Sophomore

Cortez McCree also finished in double figures with 11 points, though it was his defense that stood out. The freshman collected team-highs with three steals and two blocks.
After a 2-1 road swing Madison College returns home to Redsten Gym for a pair of games starting Wednesday, February 3 against the College of DuPage. The Chaparrals are also 3-5 in N4C play and own a 9-6 lead in the all-time series with Madison College. The WolfPack have dropped six of their last seven against DuPage, including a heartbreaking
