MADISON, WISC. - On Tuesday night, the Madison College men's basketball team played tough against the #2 Rochester Community & Technical College Yellowjackets. The WolfPack jumped out to a four-point halftime lead on 56 percent shooting from the field, including first year guard
Tyree Young's 4-for-6 effort. Young led all scorers with 11 points and two assists in the first half.
After the break, the WolfPack surrendered the lead with just under 10 minutes left to go. The Yellowjackets would never look back as the WolfPack struggled shooting, going 10-for-30, while Rochester shot almost 58 percent from the field including 5-for-8 from beyond the arc.
Another key stat was Rochester's 35 points off turnovers to the Pack's 23 points. Despite a great effort by the WolfPack at home, they lost their fourth game of the young season, 87-75.
Former Sun Prairie athlete,
Shane Waldon led all scorers with 17 points and six rebounds in limited minutes (20:27) due to foul trouble. Former Monona Grove standout, Paul Schmelzer III, contributed 14 points, while first year WolfPack guards,
Tyree Young and
Stavon Staples, had 13 and 10 points, respectively.
The Madison College men are back in action in a week when they play host to NJCAA Division II, Bryant & Stratton College, on Wednesday, November 30 at 7:30 p.m. It's the first ever meeting between the two Wisconsin-based schools.
