Entering the game the two teams both possessed one conference loss as the 1-2-1 and 0-1 (N4C) Madison College team hosted the 2-1 and 0-1 (N4C) Rock Valley College Golden Eagles on September 4. Besides the conference rivalry, the 2014 Rock Valley team ended the WolfPack's 2014 season after RVC secured the Region IV Tournament Quarterfinal win in a shootout after two overtime periods. The early season game was Madison College's chance to seek some early revenge, and they did just that with a 2-1 win.
After nearly a scoreless first half,
Alfredo Ramirez-Pinho got the scoring underway with an unassisted goal at the 43:00 minute mark. The late first period score was the lone goal of the half though both Madison (8) and Rock Valley (6) had several scoring opportunities.
Armed with a 1-0 lead, the WolfPack added to that just 16 minutes into the second half as
Vincenzo Pipitone scored off of an assist from Ramirez-Pinho to give the 'Pack a 2-0 lead. The strong WolfPack defense kept Rock Valley scoreless until the team allowed a Golden Eagle goal at the 66:57 minute mark, but they were able to stymie RVC the rest of the period and hold on for the 2-1 win. Goalkeeper
John Arendt picked up five saves in his 90 minutes the net.
The 2-2-1 and 1-1 (N4C) Madison College men's soccer team has the weekend off before making the short trip down to Joliet, IL for another N4C game with the 3-2 and 1-1 (N4C) Joliet Junior College Wolves. The game starts at 4:00 PM.
