After two tough losses yesterday, the WolfPack softball team rebounded with two big wins over the Mohawk Valley Community College Hawks as the 'Pack swept the doubleheader 11-5 and 13-8. The two wins were the 'Pack's first two at Cocoa Beach, FL and boosts their spring trip record to 6-3.

In the first game, Mohawk Valley took the early 5-0 lead with five runs in the first inning, but that was all of the offense the Hawks could muster. The Madison College offense scored three runs in the second inning, six in the third inning, and one run in both the fifth and sixth innings; and reliever
Ashley Stormer pitched six shutout innings. Stormer scattered five hits and struckout two in the win that improved her record to 4-0.

Ashley Marshall and
Nicole Hoffmann led the offense with two hits apiece, and the team belted out four doubles.
Nicole Hoffmann had two of the doubles, going 2-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored.
Ashley Marshall also had a double in her 2-for-3 day. She also scored one run, recorded a sacrifice fly, and finished the day with two RBI.
Breanna Guenther and
Kayla Crump both scored two runs, and the trio of
Kayla Crump,
Nicole Hoffmann, and
Billie Nolan all had one steal.

In game two, the score favored the Hawks 4-3, until Madison put up a six spot in the fifth inning and scored two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings. Mohawk scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to make the game appear close, but the WolfPack dominated the Hawks in the doubleheader finale for the 13-8 win.
Ashley Marshall once again led the offense by going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs scored, one double, and a triple. She also added a sacrifice hit in the offensive outburst.
Kayla Crump,
Breanna Guenther, and
Austann Abbott all recorded two hits as the WolfPack belted out 14 hits, including three more extra base hits.
Kayla Crump also scored a team high three runs, and
Breanna Guenther recorded a team high three RBI while scoring two runs. Her third inning home run was just one of the offensive highlights of the game.

The second Mohawk game also saw another WolfPack reliever secure the win as
Casey Beckwith stepped in for starter
Hailee Jacobson.
Casey Beckwith threw 4.1 innings, scattering 10 hits, and allowing five runs. She was replaced by
Courtney Boss, but Beckwith secured the win to improve to 2-2 on the year.

In two games against Mohawk Valley, the WolfPack recorded 23 hits, seven extra base hits, 24 runs, and 12 RBI. The pitching was great too, as they limited the Hawks to 10 earned runs in 14 innings.

The WolfPack softball team travels to Clermont, FL for two games tomorrow at the NTC Softball Complex. The 'Pack's first game is at 11:00 a.m. against Southwestern CC (IA), and the team plays Oakton CC at 3:00 p.m.
