WolfPack Softball loses two to tough teams

The WolfPack Softball team lost two games to two tough teams today in Cocoa Beach, FL. Madison College fell to #11 NJCAA Divison II ranked Chesapeake College, 11-2, and NJCAA Division I Crowder College, 4-1.

Against Chesapeake College the 'Pack could only muster four hits and two runs. After the game was tied 1-1 heading into the fourth inning, Chesapeake College scored three runs in the fourth and added seven in the sixth to put the game out of reach. Madison College added one run in the bottom of the sixth but the game ended on run-rule after the end of the sixth.

Courtney Boss threw 103 pitches to 33 batters in five and two-thirds innings. Boss struck out three, walked one, gave up 12 hits and six earned runs in the loss. Ashley Stormer came in to the game in relief and pitched one-third inning while facing six batters in the 11-2 loss.

Four WolfPack batters had hits including Cheyenne Holmes, Breanna Guenther, Ashley Marshall and Kayla Crump. Guenther was 1-for-1 with two walks, a double and a run scored.

Against NJCAA Division I Crowder College the WolfPack fell behind early 3-0 after three innings. The 'Pack finally got on the board in the fourth on a Brianna Smith single. Crowder College answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the fourth and shut down the WolfPack offense over the final three innings.

Jenalee Wilson had a 127 pitches to 46 batters over six innings. Wilson allowed five hits and three earned runs on five walks and one strikeout. Cheyenne Holmes, Breanna Guenther, Kiana Smith and Brianna Smith each had hits.

Tomorrow the WolfPack will try to get back on track against NJCAA Division III Mohawk Valley Community College from New York. Madison College plays Mohawk in a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Chain of Lake Park in Cocoa Beach, FL.
