Madison College softball pulled ahead in the bottom of the fourth inning and never looked back as they won their first game of their Florida spring trip 12-4 over NCAA Division II, Mercy College, from New York.
With the game tied at 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth the WolfPack's
Sadie Holmes scored on an error for one of her three runs scored on the afternoon. The WolfPack added another run in the fourth to take a 5-3 lead. Madison College would then add one run in the fifth and an additional six runs in the sixth inning to put the game away by run-rule.
First year outfielder,
Sadie Holmes, led her team with a 4-for-4 afternoon, including a triple and two stolen bases. Second year shortstop,
Nicole Hoffmann also had a stellar game, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs including a double and triple.
Billie Nolan,
Jessie Steindorf and
Kiana Smith each had two RBIs in the 12-4 rout.
Sadie Holmes and
Breanna Guenther each had a pair of stolen bases.
Former Edgerton athlete,
Courtney Boss, pitched a complete game, giving up two earned runs on eight hits. Boss had two strikeouts and two base on balls in the win.
The WolfPack are back in action tomorrow versus Luther College JV, from Iowa, in Clermont, FL, at 5:00 p.m.
