On Saturday night, the Madison College men's basketball team advanced to their first NJCAA Region IV championship game since the 2010-11 season with a hard fought 54-46 upset win over #2 seed, Milwaukee Area Technical College.
In the first half, WolfPack took the lead with 18 seconds left before half after trailing by as many as seven points with under four minutes left. In the second half, Madison College maintained their lead and kept the Stormers at bay making key free throws down the stretch to preserve the win.
The WolfPack shot 76 percent from the line and held the Stormers to just 36 percent from the field and 1-for-8 from beyond the arc. Second year guard,
Tanner Schieve led the 'Pack with 14 points and four steals.
Kendale Nation and
Kristian Zimmerman made big impacts off the bench with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Jack Jelacic pulled down eight rebounds in just 18 minutes of action.
The win puts the WolfPack in the championship game against the tournament's #1 seed, Rock Valley College. Madison College will play Rock Valley College at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 at Joliet Junior College in Joliet, IL.
