Box Score The Madison College women's basketball season is over. Falling to top-ranked Rock Valley College in Saturday's NJCAA Region IV championship, 90-71, the WolfPack just missed out on a trip to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament.
Saturday's game marked the third meeting between the North Central Community College Conference (N4C) rivals this season. Unfortunately, like they had in the previous two meetings, Madison College could not solve the Golden Eagles' puzzle.
Led by Yowana Posey, who finished with a game-high 22 points, Rock Valley would race out to an 11-point halftime lead, 45-34. The second half played out in much the same way, with the Golden Eagles again scoring 45 points in the half, compared to the WolfPack's 37.
Despite the loss, Madison College did have five players score in double figures. Freshman
Kelly Calhoun led the team with 15 points, while
Gabrielle Hood had 13.
Lizzy Britt,
Chelsey Schulenburg and
Meagan Mazur added 11, 11 and 10, respectively.
The WolfPack finishes their 2013-14 season at 21-10 overall, 10-4 in conference play. Meanwhile, Rock Valley enters the NJCAA Division III National Tournament as the two-time defending champion.
Freshman
Gabrielle Hood was named to the NJCAA Region IV all-tournament team. She was the lone member of the 'Pack to receive the honor.
