Slow start haunts WolfPack men versus Milwaukee

Box Score It was a tale of two halves for the Madison College men's basketball team Saturday evening. Trailing in-state rival Milwaukee Area Technical College by 16 points at the break, the WolfPack rallied back against the Stormers in the second, but unfortunately fell short, losing 78-73.

Madison College struggled to knock down shots in the game's first 20 minutes. Hitting just 10-of-35 (28 percent) from the field, which included missing 11 of their 12 three-point attempts, the 'Pack found themselves trailing 41-25 heading to the second half.

The Madison College team that showed up after halftime looked a whole lot better. They hit 58 percent of their shots, including 57 percent of their three-point opportunities, on their way to scoring 48 points in the second frame. However, the 16 point deficit proved a bit too much for the WolfPack, as their rally would fall just five points short.

Four players scored in double figures for Madison College in the loss. Tanner Schieve scored a team-high 15, with Corey McGowan and Griffin Eckhart each adding 14. Brandon Holz chipped in as well, finishing with 13 points.

Milwaukee's Troy Spears finished with a game-high 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting.

The WolfPack (4-20, 1-9) have now lost four straight games. Wilbur Wright will provide Madison College with an opportunity to right the ship Wednesday, when the 'Pack travels to Chicago for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
