Box Score In a game that had fans on the edge of their seat Wednesday night, the Madison College men's basketball team battled College of DuPage into overtime. However, after 40 minutes of back and forth action, the WolfPack didn't have enough left in the tank for the extra five minutes, falling 76-71.
The first half saw Madison College dictate the pace of play. The team hit 42 percent of their shots from the floor, including five three-pointers, and made all nine of their free throw attempts en route to a 38-31 halftime lead.
In the second, the Chaparrals started to see the tide turn in their favor. As the WolfPack's shooting started to cool off, making just seven of their 22 field goal attempts, College of DuPage jumped back into the game.
Toward the end of regulation,
Tanner Schieve went to the line with the 'Pack back just a single point. He hit the front end of the pair, tying the game at 64, but after a Chaparrals timeout was unable to give Madison College the lead. The WolfPack managed to make only nine of their 15 free throw attempts in the second half, as the game headed into an extra frame tied at 64.
Madison College had their looks in the game's final five minutes. Unfortunately, they couldn't get their shots to fall, shooting just 25 percent. Meanwhile, College of DuPage knocked down all three of their field goal attempts, and hit six of eight from the charity stripe, to seal the deal.
Ryan Rader paced the Chaparrals with 21 points and seven rebounds. However, it was the clutch play of Jonny Woolf that led College of DuPage to the victory. Woolf, who finished with 12 points and five rebounds, made several big plays down the stretch to help the Chaparrals secure the win.
Nathan Scheeter led the WolfPack offensively with 16 points. Schieve and
Brandon Holz each added 10 points in the loss.
Madison College (4-23, 1-12) will look to break up a seven-game losing streak in their final regular season game Friday. The WolfPack will host Harper College at 7 p.m.
