WolfPack women score 100-plus for fourth time, beat Triton

Box Score The seventh-ranked Madison College women's basketball team is now riding a four-game winning streak, thanks to their 102-54 victory over Triton College Saturday. The win gives the WolfPack the season sweep of the Trojans.

Just like the first go-round between the two teams, Madison jumped out to a huge halftime lead, leading it 57-24 at the break. The WolfPack, on the tenacity of their defense, took 18 more shots than the Trojans in the game's first 20 minutes, hitting 42 percent of their shots to Triton's 29 percent.

The second half was more of the same, with Madison shooting 40 percent, and the Trojans managing just 32 percent. The 'Pack ended up outscoring Triton 45-30 in the second.

Four players scored in double figures for Madison College. Chelsey Schulenburg led the way with 18, followed by Meagan Mazur's 17, Gabrielle Hood's 16 and Kelly Calhoun's 12.

Defensively, the WolfPack forced 40 Trojan turnovers, leading to 46 points. The easy buckets also resulted in Madison making 62 of their points in the paint.

The WolfPack (16-6, 7-1) will get a much bigger test in their next outing. Wednesday, the team visits Joliet Junior College, a team they needed overtime against to beat at home 68-65. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
